SEA LIFE Porto becomes net carbon positive

In light of the climate crisis, SEA LIFE Porto has taken the initiative to become net carbon positive in 2019 going beyond the Paris Agreement that challenged the world to become net carbon neutral by 2050.

By being net carbon positive, SEA LIFE Porto is currently removing more carbon from the atmosphere than putting into it, giving its contribution for a future for all mankind on earth.

SEA LIFE Porto undertook a giant effort to reduce their carbon footprint, by installing solar panels on the roof and power regulators on the main water system to reduce the electricity consumed. SEA LIFE Porto replaced single use plastic items like plastic straws for paper ones, plastic coffee cups for paper versions and the medals given away at the end of the visit to each and every guest for cork version, all in a sustainable way. SEA LIFE Porto is also working only with FSC certified paper since 2016 on all printed materials.

This effort places SEA LIFE Porto as #1 attraction in Portugal on the fight against the climate crisis and also the first Merlin Entertainments attraction to be Net Carbon Positive.
