Quiet at SEA LIFE Weymouth
Aquarium holds quiet day for guests with Sensory Processing Disorders
On Friday 7th December, SEA LIFE Weymouth held a “Quiet at the Aquarium” day especially for guests with Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) or similar, to explore the aquarium park without the worry of loud music or screens.
The day also hosted a special event for Special Educational Needs (SEN) children to enjoy the magic of Christmas at the Park, with a bookable visit to Meet Father Christmas. The experience was adapted from the usual offering, with families getting 20 minutes with Father Christmas, after requests from local families.
The SEN Meet Father Christmas experience sold out after school hours and due to this success, SEA LIFE Weymouth hopes to have more weekend SEN-Only sessions next year to enable more families with school aged children to attend.
One guest, Stacey a mother of two said, “I brought my two girls to see Santa, thank you so much for being so patient! First time I've ever been able to take my oldest!! I really appreciate you holding an SEN Santa evening, you've made two girls (and their parents) very happy! Thank you!”
