LEGOLAND® Florida Resort’s sustainability program continues to raise the bar and deliver successes, becoming a true leader within Merlin. By managing their resources responsibly, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort hope to make changes that will help build a better tomorrow and continue to be committed to reducing their impact on the environment.
The US attraction has had great success in their landfill diversion efforts by reducing waste, implementing effective strategies to manage utilities responsibly, alongside monitoring and creating control measures to reduce their carbon footprint as a business.
In 2018 LEGOLAND® Florida Resort met an amazing 100% of their sustainability objectives, including achieving a 43% increase in Landfill Diversion Rate and a 30% reduction in water usage.
To put the impact of the programme into perspective, check out these awesome stats below!
- Through their recycling efforts, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort saved enough energy through cardboard, plastic, steel, and aluminium in 2018 to power the heart of our park, Miniland, for a whopping three months
- In 2018, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort saved 203,291 kilowatt hours. This is enough energy to power up 25 homes for an entire year!
- In 2018, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort also saved 37,308,000 gallons of water. This is enough water saved to fill up the Atlantic Ocean exhibit at Sea Life Orlando 194 times
