Ghost Train Gala
Demonic VR attraction wins global industry award
We were delighted that during IAAPA 2017 the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) awarded Derren Brown’s Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon the Outstanding Achievement Award for an immersive attraction. These awards are recognition for global outstanding themed entertainment and experience design projects.
Since the attraction opened in 2016, Thorpe Park visitors can experience its unique combination of old and new show techniques – including Pepper’s ghost, VR, a motion platform and some good old smoke and mirrors. In 2017 the Ghost Train was possessed by a demon taking it deeper and making it even darker and more intense, with yet another twist to the experience leaving you to question what is real and what isn’t.
In the Developer’s Diary you can have a peek into how the Resorts Theme Park Creative John Burton and his team made this project a success.
Described as “an exceptional application of story plus various old and new show techniques”, TEA also praised the attraction as being “suspenseful and haunting, with plenty of twists and surprises, and takes VR and immersive experience to a new level.”
The Resort will formally receive their award at the 24th annual TEA Awards Gala on 7th April 2018 in Anaheim, California.
