It's the ultimate dream job for all LEGO enthusiasts: Master Model Builder at a LEGO Discovery Centre. A job where you can create LEGO models all day long in your own LEGO workshop, guiding and inspiring children as they build with LEGO bricks.
Today, Stephan Krimpert secured this dream job for the new LEGO Discovery Centre in Hamburg, coming out on top in the "Brick Factor" competition at IKEA Hamburg-Altona. The 40-year-old from Cologne beat out the competition to be crowned the official face of the spectacular LEGO indoor family attraction, which will open in spring 2024 at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier.
The contestant from Cologne triumphed over five other competitors in a total of three rounds with various building challenges. The finalists had to demonstrate their creative building skills with LEGO bricks on the themes “Build the playground of your dreams”, “Show us who you are in a LEGO Model” and “Build something related to Hamburg”. After each round, the jury decided who would make it one step further.
Stephan Krimpert convinced the jury, consisting of Global Master Model Builder Alec Posta (who came all the way from the USA), Miriam Wolframm, General Manager of the LEGO Discovery Centre Hamburg and family influencer “Daddy Channel”, with a fantastic creations including a fish sandwich shop made of LEGO bricks.
The adult jury was supported by the attraction's junior Creative Crew, who are involved in the construction and creation of the new LEGO world by advising, testing and supporting with the unique perspective of children. The "Brick Factor" audience at IKEA Hamburg-Altona, where the competition was held, was also enthralled by the building skills of the job applicants. Thousands - especially families with children - followed the event with excitement until the festive award ceremony, which took place via a LEGO brick shower and a LEGO trophy.

His role will also see him lead regular workshops and creative LEGO activities with and for children after the attraction's opening in spring 2024, inspiring and encouraging them to build with LEGO bricks. With his freshly landed dream job, Stephan Krimpert joins the elite group of Master Model Builders at LEGO Discovery Centers around the world.
