SEA LIFE Sydney celebrates World Penguin Day with penguin treats and an important conservation message

To celebrate World Penguin Day 2021, the cheeky Gentoo and King penguins at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium have been treated to a rainbow ice-cake and penguin favourite - a bubble machine!

The ice cake and bubbles formed part of special enrichment activities for the penguins, supporting in encouraging their natural behaviours.

The day also highlighted an important conservation message, to raise awareness of the threats these species are facing in the wild including plastic pollution and climate change.

“We celebrate World Penguin Day to promote ocean conservation and raise awareness of the threats that our penguin cousins in the wild face, including climate change and plastic pollution. The penguins enjoy enrichment activities such as the bubble machine as it simulates their natural behaviour to peek and explore.”
