Brand new attraction SEA LIFE San Antonio had a grand opening to the public on May 25, 2021.
The special opening event was highlighted by a performance by a local mariachi group to extend a San Antonio-style welcome to the city’s newest sea creatures in the attraction’s underwater tunnel.
Before the first guests arrived, SEA LIFE San Antonio’s Curator, Nick Ireland, hosted a live fish feed and educational talk for guests in attendance.
The ceremony concluded as General Manager Jeremy Aguillen “sliced” the ribbon with a pirate sword in honor of SEA LIFE’s unique pirate-themed ocean display, featuring a Texas-sized 15-foot Blackbeard Statue. Press coverage has been abundant as the buzz around SEA LIFE’s opening has spread throughout South Texas.
The opening of SEA LIFE San Antonio follows the successful 2019 launch of LEGOLAND Discovery Center San Antonio located alongside SEA LIFE San Antonio, just steps away from the historic Alamo and world-famous San Antonio River Walk.
SEA LIFE San Antonio features 10 interactive zones to explore, including San Antonio’s only underwater ocean tunnel, stingray bay and sea horse mangrove exhibit, among other experiences.
“We are thrilled to welcome guests to experience our 3,000 creatures including an 8-foot zebra shark, beautiful rays, and thousands of incredible creatures. The entire San Antonio team has worked incredibly hard to create a first-class home for our creatures and an incredible experience for our guests.”
