Ride Safety video series

We are really excited for the year ahead! We created a video series to answer questions we sometimes get asked about the rides at our theme parks.

At Merlin the safety of our guests is always our number one priority.  To help you better understand our rides, how they work and how you can help to ensure you and all of our guests have a safe and fun visit to one of our attractions, we made the ride safety series below.

Why do rides sometimes stop at theme parks?

Sometimes theme park rides stop and there are many reasons why this can happen, but rest assured it is the ride operating as it should to keep you safe. Watch the video with Francis Jackson, Operations Director at Alton Towers Resort below to learn more.

What happens when a ride stops?

Sometimes theme park rides stop and passengers need to be safely evacuated using our frequently rehearsed evacuation process. Watch the video with Neil Poulter, Operations Director at Thorpe Park Resort below to learn more.

How do we keep our rides running smoothly?

Rides are complex machines and our park engineers perform hours of maintenance every day and deep maintenance every winter to keep them running smoothly. Watch the video with Jamie Chestnutt, Technical Director at Chessington World of Adventures Resort below to learn more.

How can I make sure I have a great visit to a theme park?

Find out how you can ensure everyone has an amazing theme park visit whilst helping to prevent ride stoppages. Did you know a common reason for a ride to stop is a passenger using their phone? Watch the video below featuring Justine Locker, Operations Director at Chessington World of Adventures Resort to learn more.
