Merlin’s Magic Wand was delighted to donate a magical Mobile Entertainment Unit this month to the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.
The hospice was chosen to receive the unit by Nick Mackenzie, a former Merlin Entertainments Director who has always been a supporter of the Merlin’s Magic Wand charity.
“We are extremely grateful to Nick Mackenzie for all the support he has given to Merlin’s Magic Wand over the years and we wanted to give him the opportunity to donate one of our fantastic mobile entertainment units to a children’s organisation of his choice, as a gesture of thanks. We were delighted when we learned that he wished to donate the unit to the Donna Louise Hospice for Children and Young People hospice in Trentham, which is very close to where he was brought up. We would like to thank the Donna Louise Children’s hospice for accepting Nick’s gift which we hope will provide hours of fun escapism and creative play for the children who attend the hospice.”Erin Woods, Merlin’s Magic Wand Charity Manager
Nikki Culverwell, Play Leader at The Donna Louise Hospice said, “We’re so excited to receive this wonderful mobile unit from Merlin’s Magic Wand, and we’re especially grateful to Nick for choosing us to receive this very special gift.
"The unit will provide hours of fun and entertainment for the children and young people when they’re staying at the Hospice, and because it’s mobile it means that they can enjoy it in their bedrooms when they’re not well enough to play in the rest of the Hospice. On behalf of all the children and young people at the Hospice, I’d like to say a massive thank you!”
Nick Mackenzie said, “During my 17 years at Merlin I saw the amazing work that Merlin’s Magic Wand does to help bring a little fun to children across the country when they need it most. Everyone at Merlin works incredibly hard to raise money for the charity and I have really enjoyed doing my bit.
"These Mobile Entertainment Units contain a brilliant range of toys, games and consoles and I can’t wait to see the smiles of the faces of the children at the Donna Louise Hospice for Children and Young People. Having grown up in Stoke-on-Trent, it’s a charity close to my heart and the team do incredible work. I hope this donation will help them bring a little magic and deliver even better care for the children they look after for many years to come.”
