Great progess on Belgua Whale Sanctuary with visitor centre set to open in March 2019

Take a sneak peek of Little Grey and Little White’s future home and discover the beauty of the SEA LIFE TRUST Beluga Whale Sanctuary on Heimaey Island.

Fantastic progress is being made on this ground-breaking project, with this Icelandic bay being carefully chosen to provide a more a natural sub-Arctic environment and wild habitat for these amazing whales.

Attached to the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary will be a state-of-the-art landside care facility to monitor and assess the beluga whales as well as a brand new visitor and education centre which will include a new puffin hospital for members of the public to learn more about the project as well as being able to view some local wildlife.

The visitor centre will be open to the public in mid-March 2019 with the two beluga whales, Little Grey and Little White, becoming residents in Spring.
